PHILADELPHIA  — Investigators have made an arrest in the case of a duct-taped cat.

The gray tabby was found a week ago in North Philadelphia, wrapped from neck to tail in duct tape. Now, detectives say a 19-year-old man has confessed to the crime.
Investigators say James Davis surrendered to police on Sunday, after Pennsylvania SPCA enforcement officers got a tip call allegeing that Davis was responsible.

Davis told police he duct-taped the female cat in his bedroom last Monday, put it in a shopping bag, and left it in a neighbor’s backyard. There was no immediate word on why.

The cat was nicknamed Sticky by SPCA workers. She had to be sedated while the tape was cut off her fur, but she’s doing well. Animal welfare workers are still looking for Sticky’s owner.

Davis faces up to 2 years in prison and a minimum $1,000 fine if convicted. A phone number for Davis could not immediately be located. It was unclear if he had an attorney.
